The Anglican Church of North West Australia is the largest land-mass Diocese in the world, covering 2 million sq km.
It stretches from Dongara 65kms south of Geraldton to Kununurra & Wyndham almost at the top of Western Australia and east to the South Australia/Northern Territory border.
The population of the area is about 150,000 people.
There are 18 parishes, consisting of small farming, fishing and mining communities with populations from just a few hundred to over 35,000 in the city of Geraldton, and three Mission to Seafarers’ ministries - Port Hedland, Karratha and Geraldton.
Our Diocesan Executive consists of Diocesan President, Vice President and Treasurer.
In the Diocese there are 2 branches, Geraldton and Carnarvon (500Km apart) with 28 members (2018).
We meet monthly to pray, listen and share experiences with each other and to read the bible.
Geraldton is located 450 miles north of Perth and is 450 Kms south of Carnarvon, where our other MU Branch is located.
With email it is much easier to communicate, despite the distance.
• bringing to the attention of the City of Greater Geraldton & Carnarvon the oversexualisation of children, with assistance from Wendy Smith and Sharon Kirk from Armidale MU.
• supplying women from the Geraldton Women's Refuge who have to relocate after a crisis with cleaning materials.
• Recognition of membership in Holy Cross Cathedral, St. George’s Bluff Point, and St George’s Carnarvon as a promotion of MU, and honouring long term members in those congregations.
• Manning a stand at the annual Royal Flying Doctor Service Bridal Expo in Geraldton promoting Christian marriage.
• 'Denied Innocence’ - is a MU sponsored presentation designed to raise awareness about our modern culture and the dangers it poses for our children. This move out beyond the boundary of the Church right into the community was exciting.
